E.I.F.S.
(Exterior Insulation and Finish System)
One of the most common issues with EIFS is bird nesting. If untreated, bird nesting can cause damage to your stucco house as it can create an environment for mold to grow where there is no waterproof system in place. Without maintenance wood framing, insulation, and sheet rock can be tarnished easily. Aside from the damage to your property, black mold can also cause illnesses.
Cracking
This is a quick and easy way to see if stucco needs repair or if moisture might need to be addressed. All you need is an inspection of the stucco for cracks to see where to repair or if moisture damage has occurred.
Chipping
A few missing chips and chunks of stucco siding are a bad sign. It’s a symptom of water damage underneath. If you find that your stucco tears or breaks off, it’s worth bringing out an expert to investigate further.
Water Intrusion
Stucco water intrusion can occur at the window flashings, sill and head openings when the stucco is not properly built-up around them. These areas must have a continuous layer of stucco built-up and be constructed in a very specific way in order to prevent water intrusion. If you don’t see signs of water intrusion on the walls, check your windows for stucco damage.
